Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a 70 MW solar power project focusing on the state’s potential as a renewable energy hub and setting a goal of 22,000 MW of green energy.
CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated on Friday, in Uttar Pradesh in Banda city. He said the government is working on cities like Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur to become upcoming solar cities.
Uttar Pradesh can become a major hub of renewable energy for the country, highlights CM. The cities like Bundelkhand and Vindhya regions are likely to have the greatest potential to generate solar power.
The state government is encouraging a green energy program with a goal of approximately 22,000 MW. To push this forward, Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has identified a 23,000-acre land bank. Yogi said, “The state is urgently driving this initiative, aligning with the Solar and Bio Energy Policy-2022 and the Green Hydrogen Policy-2024,”.
The plant’s inauguration was a milestone in bringing up investment proposals from Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit and most significantly it will generate employment opportunities for approximately 400 people.
Yogi also mentioned that under the scheme PM Surya Ghar Yojana, solar panels are planned for 25 lakh homes all over the state, with 18 lakh registrations already completed.
