China is ready to set up its world’s biggest solar farm in northwestern Xinjiang.  This huge plant of 5 GW is installed on 200,000-acre solar which is outside Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang.

The solar farm supplies 6.09 billion kWh of electricity in a year. This solar farm will produce electricity that it can supply to an entire nation like Papua New Guinea. For example, if an EV consumes about 3,000 kWh per year then this plant can power at least 2.03 million EVs annually.

This solar farm is a part of a megabase project, this plan aims to install 455 GW of wind and solar. China’s project includes building plants in places where there is less population but more wind and solar energy. After the generation of electricity then it is sent to further towns and cities.

China is now leading with its 3 greatest projects in the world by its capacity. The Ningxia Tenggeli and Golmud Wutumeiren solar projects with 3 GW capacity respectively are already on the ground.

Xinjiang is a remarkable player in the solar industry. They are excelling in manufacturing both solar and wind energy projects. However, Xinjiang is also a great producer of raw material, polysilicon which is used in manufacturing solar panels.

China also aims to lead in carbon emissions by 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2060. To complete this mission, the government is installing 1200 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. These new power plants are part of completing goals.
