The Adani Group has announced India’s first off-grid green hydrogen plant in Khavda, Gujarat. This plant has a 5 MW capacity, which plays an important role in India’s green hydrogen journey.
The Green hydrogen is made by the electrolysis of water from renewable sources. It is considered a cleaner option than fossil fuels, especially in industries like steel, oil refining, heavy transport, and fertilizer production, where cutting carbon emissions is harder.
This innovation also shows producing hydrogen completely from renewable sources without any help. The plant allows the plant to function entirely off-grid, making this a unique and self-dependent model.
This mission aims to develop a green hydrogen production capacity of five million metric tonnes per annum by 2030.
Adani is creating a model that can be copied in other remote areas of the country where electricity from the main grid is hard to get. This independent approach could help speed up the adoption of green hydrogen technology across the nation, especially in industrial zones who looking to shift to cleaner energy sources.
Because of its hybrid nature of energy supply, it can maintain a more stable and consistent power output. This means it solves one of the main problems in making renewable energy, which is that solar and wind power can change depending on the weather.
