The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) signed an agreement (MOU) with NVVN (NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam) to install solar panels at 15 ICMR institutes across the country.
This step will help reduce the carbon footprint within the Indian Healthcare and research sectors and make them more energy efficient.
In this deal, NVVN will supply, install, test, and maintain rooftop solar panels, which will generate a combined capacity of 4,559 KW.
The project also includes a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for solar energy connected to the grid. This means that the institutes will get solar power at a fixed price for the next 25 years, helping them save on energy costs.
Seven institutes under ICMR are already using solar power from earlier projects, and this new agreement will help them benefit even more from solar energy.
By switching to solar, ICMR will reduce its energy bills and contribute to the country’s goal of using more renewable energy.
This partnership shows India’s commitment to a greener and more sustainable future. It will also strengthen research in healthcare and make it a leader in adopting eco-friendly energy solutions.
Through this initiative, ICMR is helping make a future where energy is clean and accessible, with scientific progress.
