Floating Solar Plant in Kerela

Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) is the most important plant of the Steel Authority of India. BSP is now initiating the setting up of solar power plants across its city. BSP has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) to start solar projects.

These new solar power plants will be established on BSP rooftops and near the city of Bhilai. The solar project in BSP generates 2 MW of electricity, and projects installed in residential areas generate 3 MW of electricity. The total project generates 5 MW of electricity.

Chhattisgarh is now set to establish its “first floating solar power plant”. Bhilai Steel Plant is setting up its 15 MW power plant on the Maroda -1 reservoir. This project aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, which will contribute to promote renewable energy and conserving energy. The floating solar project is looking to generate approximately 34.26 million units of green power.

This project is divided into two parts. The first part is expected by 2025, and the second part will begin at the end of 2027. Electricity supplied from this project will be generated from the power grid for the well-being of plants and surroundings. This initiative by BSP shows their concern about sustainability and conserving our surroundings and energy.
