Germany targets an equal distribution of solar power between large-scale and roof-mounted systems. The large-scale ground-mounted segment saw 45% growth in 2023. Solar Package I will increase the growth by 22 GW per year by 2026. Intersolar Europe, a solar power exhibition, will be held in Munich from June 19–21. Special solar systems now have their tender segment, with a maximum value raised to 9.5 cents per kWh. Dual-land-use concepts are gaining popularity. However such initiatives move towards sustainable development and promoting green energy.

The German government wants large power plants and rooftop systems to be equally represented. In 2023, ground-mounted power plants had seen a growth of 45 per cent. With Solar Package I, this growth is predicted to be maximised, which aims to set up solar power in an easier process and achieve a growth of 22 gigawatts per year by 2026.

Intersolar Europe, the world’s premier exhibition for the solar industry, will showcase the latest applications, products, and business models for large-scale PV power plants. The event will be held in Munich from June 19–21 as part of Smarter Europe, the continent’s largest alliance of energy industry exhibitions. Around 3,000 exhibitors and over 115,000 visitors from worldwide are going to attend the event, which spans 19 exhibition halls and an outdoor area.

Hybrid power plants include solar and wind power or integrated energy storage. This power plant offers many benefits. Sun and wind work well together, which makes them ideal because they generate power at different times and use both in one system, making them efficient for the utilisation of energy infrastructure such as interconnection points and required space. Thus, electricity is stored when prices are low and sold when prices are high, gaining profitability.

With Solar Package I, special solar systems are mentioned in the German Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) and now have their bidding section. These setups are getting popular, and using dual land for solar plans is a growing trend. The maximum amount you can bid for a tender value is 9.5 cents per kWh. Products in this category are rapidly improving, like solar panels on carports, raised vertical and horizontal solar setups with or without trackers for farming, and ways to mount solar panels on water.

The German government promotes solar energy through initiatives such as Solar Package I. It supports equal solar distribution for large-scale and rooftop installations, which will benefit the economy, environment, and other sectors. Thus, creating job opportunities, attracting investors, reducing carbon emissions, and offering consumers clean, green, and cost-effective energy, these initiatives move towards sustainable development and support solar energy adoption to fight against the climate.
