The 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat is inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi.

This three-day event celebrates India’s achievement of surpassing 200 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity and displays cutting-edge innovations in renewable energy from both the public and private sectors, as well as startups and major industry players.

PM Modi welcomed global delegations and gave assurance that the summit would encourage serious discussions on the future of energy, technology, and policies.

He highlighted that India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation by 2047 is underway and emphasized the country’s focus on renewable energy as a key factor for growth.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the government’s first 100 days of decisions that have been taken to expand India’s physical and social infrastructure, including the launch of more than 15 semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains, a research fund worth Rs 1 trillion to promote innovation, and various initiatives to drive e-mobility and biomanufacturing.

On the ground of renewable energy, PM Modi highlighted the launch of a viability gap funding scheme (VGF) for offshore wind energy projects worth more than Rs 7,000 crore and India’s goal to generate 31,000 MW of hydropower with an investment of Rs 12,000 crore.

One of the key highlights of the event was the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijali Yojana, a big initiative to make every Indian household a power producer through rooftop solar installations. Under this scheme, 1.3 crore families have registered, and 3.25 lakh homes have been built with installations.

The PM focused on India’s leadership in the global green energy sector, saying that it is the first G20 nation to meet its climate commitments under the Paris Agreement and achieve these goals nine years ahead of its schedule.

The Prime Minister also mentioned the significant contributions of “Modhera, India’s first solar village”, where all energy needs are fulfilled by solar power. He also announced plans to develop “Ayodhya” into a model solar city, with solar-powered homes, streetlights, and other facilities. India aims to convert 17 cities into solar cities and promote solar power in agriculture by helping farmers install solar pumps and plants for irrigation.

PM Modi urged global investors to take advantage of the various opportunities in India’s renewable energy sector. He underlined the government’s commitment to supporting sustainable energy and promoting green growth through policies, innovation, and investment. “India’s solar revolution will be written in golden letters when the history of the 21st century is written,” Modi said, as he encouraged investors to contribute to India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in renewable energy.
