India plans to unlock a huge export potential of $117 billion at the upcoming World Trade Expo 2024. The event will be held in Mumbai from October 17-18, 2024, at the World Trade Center, organized by the World Trade Center Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI). It will showcase trade and investment opportunities with 30 countries.
Maharashtra’s Governor, CP Radhakrishnan, will inaugurate the fifth edition of the Expo and speak on “Innovation for Sustainability with a Focus on Green and Renewable Energy.“
Many important people, like Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, will also speak at the event about Green and Renewable Energy.
This Expo will bring together ambassadors and trade experts from countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. These regions make up a large part of India’s trade, and the event will help find new opportunities to improve these connections. India registered a $10 billion trade deficit with these regions in 2024, so the Expo is seen as a chance to change that.
The Expo will also focus on important topics such as semiconductor production, agriculture, and services. Discussions with African diplomats will focus on new ways to cooperate in areas like food security, energy, and digital development.
India’s current trade agreements and potential opportunities in sectors like textiles, chemicals, and automobiles will also be highlighted, with special attention to the USA, which has great export potential in the pharmaceutical and automotive sectors.
Vijay Kalantri, Chairman of WTC Mumbai, said that the Expo is a promising platform for India to boost its trade and cooperation globally, even as its merchandise exports face challenges due to geopolitical tensions.
