Himachal CM stated that this is the second solar power project in the Una district, following the 32 MW Pekhubela project, which was installed in a record time of six months and is expected to generate an income of Rs 20 crore.
This Friday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu placed the foundation stone of a 10 MW solar project in Aghlor in the Kutlehar assembly constituency of Una district. The solar project will be constructed in an area of 19 hectares, and it will be completed in approximately three months. It will supply 22.73 million units of electricity annually which will generate an annual income of Rs 8 crore.
He said that Himachal Pradesh is a power-surplus state. The government spent approximately ₹1500 crore on electricity expenses from the open market between October and March because of reduced hydroelectric power production caused by lower water levels in winter.
Sukhu mentioned that the state government has signed an agreement with the Oil India Company to generate green hydrogen and is focusing on harnessing solar energy. Further, the government is encouraging the private sector to develop solar power, with an ultimate target of producing 200 MW of solar energy within a year.
CM mentioned that the state was only getting 12% royalty from hydropower projects. Although SJVNL wanted to install a solar power project at Aghlor, the state government decided to do it themselves. The government is determined to manage finances for development projects and make them self-sufficient.
Sukhu criticized the BJP government for misusing the state’s resources but the current government is working to protect them. Over the past year and a half, they have made decisions that resulted in an additional income of ₹2,200 crore. The state government has restored the old pension scheme, is giving women ₹1,500 per month, and will provide ₹18,000 per year to women under the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana.
CM thanked all the people whosoever supported congress candidate Vivek Sharma, in the Kutlehar by-polls. MLA Vivek Sharma also thanked the CM for beginning with the 10 MW solar power project in Kutlehar.
