A COVID-19 Startup That’s Changing Rural India

by | May 13, 2025 | News | 0 comments

AgriVijay, a startup born during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, is now impacting Indian villages. The company started with a simple idea: to help farmers and rural families use renewable energy. Today, it is helping thousands of homes save money, use clean energy, and become energy independent.

AgriVijay is India’s first renewable energy marketplace, which is made especially for farmers. It brings together products like solar pumps, biogas units, solar dryers, DC fans, and solar cookers all under one roof.

The company also advises farmers before selling, so they get the right product based on their energy requirements and waste availability.

The startup was founded with support from Atal Innovation Mission and NITI Aayog. This small initiative quickly grew with help from investors. In just 18 months, AgriVijay reached 200+ farmers, and the number is continuously growing.

The company works through its website, call centres (in local languages), and offline renewable energy stores at the village level. These stores explain the benefits of renewable products and offer services like EMI options, after-sales support, and solar insurance.

AgriVijay now operates across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. It has set up more than 80+ stores, helping farmers adopt clean energy while cutting down carbon emissions.

So far, the impact is huge:

  • 495+ villages served
  • 6300+ lives impacted
  • 20750+ tonnes of CO2 reduced
  • 500+ acres irrigated by solar
  • 11 lakh+ litres of bio-slurry produced
  • ₹11 crore+ in savings for rural households

AgriVijay’s products not only save fuel and power costs but also help reduce firewood use and post-harvest losses. They also treat animal and food waste to produce clean energy.

AgriVijay is showing how a lockdown-born idea can change and bring a meaningful impact to farmers’ real needs.
