Bharat reached a total renewable energy capacity of 1.1 GW in April 2024. These figures were reported by The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, aka MNRE. In addition,  our renewable energy generation has now jumped to 144.75 GW, which is a huge step towards our Energy Goals.

In April 2024 India saw a boost in both the Solar and Wind energy industries. Solar capacity was increased to 824 MW whereas Wind energy also increased by 275 MW.

In adding more numbers to this achievement, Rajasthan recently made a new progress because The Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam has taken a new initiative and invited bids for a new solar project of 810 MW. This solar project of 810 MW will be situated in Western Region. This solar plant will be developed in the solar park situated in Bikaner. This initiative is also a huge step towards India’s renewable energy goals.

The April 2024 statistics show that India declined in Solar and Wind energy in March 2024. Solar energy saw a fall of a huge 88% from a capacity of 6237 MW in March 24 to 824 MW. On the other hand Wind energy got a huge decline of approximately 62% which was 733 MW to 275 MW in April 2024.

The milestone achieved by the country is adding 1.1 GW of new renewable energy. This progress is connected with India’s ambitious plan of completing the target of 500 GW. However, if we look at this point, 500GW looks a bit far for some reasons. From tendering to getting land, material, and labor, the scenario is quite serious from this perspective. But for now, the country should be satisfied with its improvements and increments in renewable energy. It is impressive, especially because manufacturers don’t have to worry about the Chinese competition in modules.
