Gautam Solar is set to make a game-changing move in India’s renewable energy sector with a ₹4,000 crore investment to establish a 5 GW solar cell manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh.
The plant will cover 54 acres of area in Gwalior, and it is going to produce advanced TOPCon solar cells. This marks an important step in increasing India’s own solar manufacturing industry and will reduce the dependency on importing solar equipment from other countries.
The project will be executed in different phases. In the first phase, the company will add 2 GW of production capacity. The company aims to complete this phase by 2026.
Once the first phase is fully operational and functioning as planned, then the company plans to launch an IPO to raise money for the second phase, which will add another 3 GW of capacity.
Gautam Solar has plans to move into solar wafer manufacturing in the future. With this expansion, the company aims to build one of the most fully integrated solar value chains in India, covering everything from wafers to modules.
Gautam Mohanka, Director of Gautam Solar, said, “With one of the largest solar cell manufacturing units in India using highly advanced TOPCon technology, we want to strengthen the domestic solar ecosystem and reduce import reliance,”.
This move places Gautam Solar among the frontrunners shaping India’s clean energy future.
