Huasun Sets Record 34.02% Efficiency in Tandem Solar Cells, Moves Closer to Mass Production

by | Sep 4, 2025 | News | 0 comments

Huasun Energy has announced two big achievements in solar technology, reaching 34.02% efficiency in a small HJT-perovskite tandem solar cell and 29.01% efficiency in a larger industrial cell. These results show both the progress made in the lab and the possibility of using this technology in real-world production.

In the lab, Huasun’s scientists used a dual passivation strategy. This means they combined two methods, physical field effects and chemical bonds, to cut down energy losses and make the cells work more efficiently.

They also used new perovskite crystallization additives and high-mobility carrier transport materials to improve grain orientation, energy alignment, and interface stability.

With these improvements, the 1 cm² tandem solar cell efficiency was pushed to 34.02%, putting Huasun among the global leaders in solar innovation.

On the industrial side, Huasun achieved 29.01% efficiency on large-size (210 HP) cells produced directly on its factory line. This is almost 4% higher than traditional single-junction silicon cells.

The company credited its large-texture thin-film deposition technology, which ensures uniform coating even on complex surfaces, along with organic stabilizers that improved environmental stability and new interface transport materials that boosted reliability. These steps bring tandem solar cells much closer to commercial mass production.

Tandem solar cells are seen as the future of photovoltaics because they can go beyond the efficiency limits of single-junction silicon. Once tandem cells consistently cross 30% efficiency, solar electricity costs could drop below one US cent per watt

This would make clean energy more affordable and open the door for low-cost green hydrogen and energy storage solutions.

Huasun says these dual milestones, 34.02% in small-size cells and 29.01% in large-size cells, prove that tandem technology is both theoretically sound and practically scalable

The company believes this will accelerate the global energy transition, while giving the solar industry confidence that high-efficiency, low-cost tandem cells can soon be produced at scale.
