During the visit of Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam to India, both countries signed key agreements in science, technology, education, energy, and space. The most important deals cover oceanography, hydrography, administrative reforms, and space research.
As part of this partnership, India will set up a floating solar project in Mauritius. It will also help rebuild a strategic port and support the development and monitoring of the Chagos Marine Protected Area. This year, India will provide Mauritius with ₹2,000 crore in budgetary support.
Officials say these steps will boost maritime security and give Mauritius stronger technology and research capabilities. Administrative reforms will also improve coordination between government officers and citizens in Mauritius.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi for the talks, said, “Foreign policy is not just Delhi’s, it belongs to the whole country. By holding this dialogue in Kashi, the aim is to connect foreign policy with all citizens.”
PM Modi welcomed the Mauritius Prime Minister in Varanasi with traditional cultural performances, flower showers, and enthusiastic greetings from locals. BJP workers also welcomed him with placards thanking the government for GST reforms.
On Friday, PM Ramgoolam and his family will visit Ayodhya to offer prayers at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and have darshan of Ram Lalla.
