UPSIDA Launches Solar Industrial Zones to Boost Clean Energy in Uttar Pradesh

by | Jun 16, 2025 | News | 0 comments

The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority(UPSIDA) has introduced an initiative to transform traditional industrial zones into solar-powered hubs. It is a major step towards an eco-friendly industrial growth.

The “Solar Industrial Zones” initiative is a main part of the Solar Energy Policy 2022. The policy focuses on lowering energy costs and minimising carbon emissions. The campaign started with the successful setup of a 150 kW solar power plant at UPSIDA headquarters in Kanpur. It cost 82.98 lakh to build.

To see the current progress, UPSIDA has identified 13 new locations in Uttar Pradesh for further solar plant installations. These sites include the key industrial regions such as Surajpur Site-5, EPIP (Gautam Buddha Nagar), TDS City (Ghaziabad), SEZ (Moradabad), Baghpat, Agra, Mathura, Jhansi, Prayagraj, and Shahjahanpur.

These sites are selected to bring solar energy to the most active industrial site. According to UPSIDA CEO Mayur Maheshwari, this initiative not only benefits the environment but also helps reduce operational costs.

This industrial zones concept will give long-term benefits. This concept also encourages the use of solar energy.

As UPSIDA leads the charge towards clean energy. The Solar Industrial Zones project sets a benchmark for other states that aim to combine renewable energy into their industrial infrastructure.
