Solar energy is the future, and big companies are investing in it. Indian electronics company Micromax has now entered the renewable energy sector. The company has announced a new venture called Startup Energy, focusing on manufacturing solar panels.
Micromax has partnered with Jinchen, a Chinese solar equipment manufacturer, to build a 5GW solar module manufacturing line. This project will be developed in different phases. It will use advanced automation and high-efficiency production technologies to make high-quality solar panels.
The company plans to produce affordable solar panels for homes, businesses, and industries. By making solar energy cheaper and more accessible, Micromax wants to help India move toward clean energy.
Micromax will set up a large manufacturing facility with modern technology and automation. The company will also seek research and development (R&D) partners to create advanced solar solutions.
This expansion supports India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. India’s solar power capacity has already reached 72GW as of 2023, and demand for locally made solar panels is increasing.
Rajesh Agarwal, Managing Director of Micromax Informatics, said the company wants to make clean power affordable, reliable, and easy to use. He added that this new step is part of Micromax’s vision to grow beyond electronics and support India’s clean energy mission.
