Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), announced a fresh investment of ₹50,000 crore in West Bengal by the end of this decade. Speaking at the 8th Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) 2025, Ambani said this investment would generate one lakh jobs in the state.

“Reliance has already invested ₹50,000 crore in Bengal over the last decade. Another ₹50,000 crore will be invested in multiple sectors, including digital services, green energy, and retail,” Ambani said.

Reaffirming Reliance’s commitment to Bengal’s green economy, Ambani introduced the motto ‘Solar Bangla for Sonar Bangla.’ He said Reliance’s New Energy Initiative would begin operations by the end of 2025, aiming to support the state’s transition to clean energy.

Apart from green energy, Ambani highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence in India’s future. “AI is indispensable for India’s transformation into a deep tech nation with advanced manufacturing capabilities. Jio is building the world’s best digital infrastructure. Today, Jio is not just India’s leading digital services provider, but also the number one data company in the world,” he said.

Ambani also spoke about Reliance Foundation’s partnership with the state government for the Kalighat Temple renovation project. “We feel privileged to serve in this initiative. Mamata Didi, I thank you for this opportunity,” he said, addressing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Reliance is also expanding its retail presence in Bengal, planning to increase its stores from 1,300 to 1,700 in the next three years.

With this massive investment, Reliance aims to boost Bengal’s economy, create jobs, and drive innovation across key industries.
