Is This the End of Solar Panels? Here, What We Know

The Netherlands, well known for its windmills, is once again showing leadership in wind energy. A Dutch company called The Archimedes has created a new type of wind turbine called the “LIAM F1 UWT”, which is small, very efficient, and quiet. This invention could change the way people power their homes.

Unlike the large wind turbines that need wide open land, this model is made for rooftops in towns and cities. This model has a diameter of only 1.5 meters and weighs less than 100 kg, which means it can be easily installed on small buildings.

Even though its model is small, but the turbine can generate up to 1,500 kWh of electricity every year, which is almost half of what an average house usually needs.

The model is a spiral-shaped design, which is inspired by Archimedes’ Spiral, helping it move smoothly with the wind and capture energy even when the wind is not very strong. The best thing about this model is that it works silently, unlike the usual noisy turbines.

Another big advantage of this model is that it can be paired with solar panels and batteries. This means homes can enjoy a steady supply of electricity, whether it’s sunny or windy.

Since this new model of turbine can convert 88% of wind power into usable energy, it has the potential to lower electricity bills in a big way and reduce how much households depend on the main power grid.
