India’s renewable energy journey reached a major milestone as the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo 2025 and Battery Show India (TBSI) opened at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. Organized by Informa Markets, the three-day event brings together over 1,000 exhibitors and 55,000 professionals from across the world under the theme “Decoding Pathways to Achieve Net Zero.”
The event comes as India crosses 250 GW of renewable capacity, moving toward its goal of 500 GW by 2030. More than 700 renewable energy exhibitors and 350 battery and storage players are participating, with strong international presence from Germany, Japan, China, Belgium, and Korea. Germany has sent 46 companies to the event, displaying the latest technologies in solar, wind, and green hydrogen.
The Indian government has also approved ₹5,400 crore to support the creation of 30 GWh of battery energy storage systems, which is expected to bring in ₹33,000 crore in investments by 2028.
Shri Manu Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary (New & Renewable Energy), Madhya Pradesh, said India is now delivering solar-plus-storage power at ₹2.70 per unit, citing the 440 MW Morena project as an example of a reliable round-the-clock renewable supply.
Odisha is setting up floating solar projects on water reservoirs to save agricultural land. This plan is part of the state’s new Renewable Energy Policy.
The expo also featured many new product launches and partnerships. Solis Technologies introduced a 125 kW hybrid inverter that uses AI to manage energy more effectively.
LONGi Solar announced a 5 GW solar module deal, while Goldi Solar launched India’s first locally made Inter-Digitated Back Contact (IBC) solar module, which can convert sunlight into electricity with 23.08% efficiency.
German Ambassador Dr. Philipp Ackermann spoke about the growing partnership between India and Germany in the clean energy sector. The European Union also urged India to speed up its renewable energy efforts, warning that the country could lose up to 24.7% of its GDP by 2070 if climate change is not addressed.
The REI Expo 2025 and Battery Show India highlight how quickly India is moving toward a cleaner and more technology-driven energy future.
