China’s Biggest Hospital Switches to Solar

DMEGC Solar has helped Hengdian Wenrong Hospital, the largest hospital in its area, switch a big part of its power use to solar energy. The company installed a 1.2 MW rooftop and solar carport system, which is now fully running.

DMEGC Solar is one of the top global solar module makers and part of the well-known Hengdian Group. With this project, they’ve shown that hospitals can use solar power without affecting important services, while saving money at the same time.

The system uses high-efficiency 635W N-type bifacial solar panels. This is expected to produce about 1.32 million units of electricity every year. Over the next 30 years, the total energy generation could reach nearly 39.6 million units. The hospital does not have to rely as much on the usual grid power with this setup. And it saves money on electricity costs as well.

The project is good for the environment, too. It cuts carbon emissions by about 754 tons each year. Which feels like the same as planting 29,000 trees or something like that. This fits well with China’s long-term plan to reduce pollution and fight climate change.

Another useful feature is the solar carports. These not only make electricity but also provide shaded parking for hospital staff and visitors, making better use of space. This way, unused spaces create more value without needing extra land.

The project uses a model called self-use plus surplus-to-grid. Basically, the hospital takes most of the solar power for itself, and whatever is left over gets sold back to the grid.

Energy costs keep going up, and there are all these climate goals, too. It seems like this is part of how hospitals in China are starting to go for solar energy. They want to cut down on expenses and also do something for the environment.
