With a clear plan to meet India’s renewable energy targets and to understand its strategic development Union Minister Prahlad Joshi shared that a special meeting, called a “Chintan Shivir,” was organized in Odisha.

Joshi highlighted that, over the past decade, India has made great progress in renewable energy. The country’s dependence on fossil fuels has dropped to just 10%, while solar energy capacity has grown 130 times, and reached almost 212 GW.

Joshi explained that India targets to produce 500 GW of renewable energy in the next six years under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance and support and plans to invest 42 crore rupees.

On November 4, Joshi also celebrated India reaching 90 GW of solar energy at the International Solar Alliance event in New Delhi. India is also working toward producing 5 million metric tons of green hydrogen by 2030. The “Chintan Shivir” was organized to strategize on achieving these ambitious targets.

In addition, Joshi announced the approval of 50 solar parks with a combined capacity of 37.5 GW. The government is also keeping an eye on offshore wind energy projects to meet the target of 30 GW from wind power.

Union minister also focuses on the “1000 Strategy” of the International Solar Alliance to generate $1000 billion in solar investments by 2030.

This plan will help solar energy reach a billion people, add 1000 GW of solar energy, and cut 1000 million metric tons of carbon emissions every year.
