Gujarat is all set to install 48 MW of solar rooftop systems on various government buildings across the state during FY25, with a budget allocation of ₹177 crore for the project will be provided. This initiative, by the state’s Climate Change Department, aims to utilize Gujarat’s significant solar energy potential by installing rooftop systems.
In the previous financial year, March 2024, a total of 3,023 rooftop solar systems had already been installed across different government departments in the state, with a combined energy capacity of 56.8 MW.
According to the state official, in FY24, Gujarat generated a total of 24,765.3 million units (MU) of renewable energy, including solar 9,637 MU, wind 14,201 MU, 885.325 MU hydro, and 42MU from biomass.
The state has effectively used its solar potential by building large solar parks and installing rooftop solar panels. Charanka Solar Park has made the state one of the top leaders in solar energy production. The new installations are part of the state’s broader vision to build up its renewable energy capacity.
Additionally, coastal wind farms also played an important role in the state’s renewable energy capacity. The government’s efforts show its commitment to clean energy and reducing carbon footprints. By installing solar rooftop systems Gujarat is not only addressing energy needs but also contributing towards a sustainable energy future.
