The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has again taken another step in energy efficiency. The Union Cabinet approved India’s signing of a “Letter of Intent” to join the International Energy Efficiency Hub.

The aim is to show that India is committed to cooperation with all countries toward saving energy by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, to fight climate change.

The International Energy Efficiency Hub was formed in 2020, replacing the older group known as the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC).

The Hub assists countries, companies, and organizations in sharing energy-saving solutions. By joining the platform, India would get the latest technologies and best practices in energy efficiency.

The entry of India into this international body will link the country with the rest of the experts around the globe, to help it in its effort to improve its energy-saving strategy.

By July 2024, many countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, China, France, Germany, and Australia, were part of the Hub. These countries actively work towards energy efficiency, saving money, and helping to protect the environment.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will manage India’s activities in the Hub. The BEE will ensure that India’s efforts align with the country’s energy-saving goals. India’s participation in this platform will also support its long-term commitment to sustainable development.
