India Energy Week 2025 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, from February 11 to 14, showcased India’s bold initiatives in shaping the global energy future. The event featured groundbreaking speeches, major investment deals, and commitments to sustainable energy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlights a strategy anchored on five pillars: strategic resource use, technological advancement, economic resilience, geographic strength, and sustainability.

He celebrated India’s achievement as the world’s third-largest solar power producer, with a 32-fold solar capacity increase over the past decade. Modi also highlighted the nation’s biofuel progress with a 19% ethanol blending rate, targeting 20% by October 2025, and set goals for 500 GW renewable energy capacity and 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen production by 2030.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri emphasized a balanced energy mix, integrating hydrocarbons, renewables, hydrogen, and biofuels. Puri outlined ambitious targets: 15% natural gas usage and 5 million metric tonnes of hydrogen production by 2030. He stressed the need for exploration, production, and infrastructure reforms to attract global investments.

Major Partnerships and Investments

India Energy Week 2025 witnessed key agreements and collaborations:

  • India–France Partnership: A civil nuclear energy and AI development deal, including joint work on small modular reactors.
  • BPCL–Equinor Agreement: A propane and butane supply deal with Norway’s Equinor.
  • ADNOC Gas–Indian Oil Pact: A 14-year LNG supply agreement.
  • NTPC’s Nuclear Initiative: Discussions with U.S. and Russian companies for small modular reactors.

Modi invited international investors, promoting India’s stable political environment and the ‘Make in India’ initiative. Indian Railways’ pledge to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 was a standout commitment, highlighting India’s comprehensive approach to sustainability.

With over 70,000 professionals from more than 50 countries in attendance, India Energy Week 2025 positioned India as a global leader in renewable energy. The event underscored India’s ability to harmonize technological advancement, economic opportunity, and environmental responsibility—setting a benchmark for developing economies worldwide.
