Haryana Targets 2.2 Lakh Rooftop Solar Installations by 2027

Haryana has announced its aim to plan to install 2.2 lakh rooftop solar systems under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana by the end of the financial year 2026–27.

The decision was shared during a State-Level Coordination Committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, where officials discussed progress and strategies to speed up adoption. Rastogi highlighted that the state is committed to taking solar energy to every household, especially in rural areas.

Haryana also plans to solarise all government buildings by December 31, 2025, without seeking central financial aid. A survey of 4,523 government buildings shows they can generate 122 MW of solar power, and the installations will start in phases.

To support more households to adopt rooftop solar, the government is offering a dual subsidy model: Central Financial Assistance (CFA) from the MNRE, which is transferred directly to consumers within 15 days of approval, and State Financial Assistance (SFA) for 1 lakh Antyodaya families on a first-come, first-served basis.

So far, 30,631 rooftop solar systems have been installed in Haryana. Officials are also preparing special schemes to attract middle-income and service-class households.

The Model Solar Village program will turn one village in each district into a fully solar-powered area. Villages with over 5,000 people can get up to ₹1 crore from the central government to help them switch to clean energy.

Additionally, the Model Solar Village initiative will see one village in each district developed as a fully solar-powered hub. Villages with more than 5,000 residents will be eligible for up to ₹1 crore in central assistance for support.
