SolarEdge has launched Nexis, a new modular solar and energy storage system designed for homes. The all-in-one solution combines a high-efficiency inverter with a stackable battery that uses a “simple-click” design, allowing homeowners to add more storage without any electrical rewiring. This makes installation faster, easier, and more affordable.
The Nexis battery starts with a single module that provides 4.9 kWh of storage and 3.5 kW of output. Homeowners can connect up to four batteries in one stack. It gives 19.6 kWh of storage and 13 kW of power. If they need more, they can add more stacks, growing the system to 70.4 kWh with one inverter or up to 211.2 kWh for the whole house. Each module has its own power unit to improve efficiency and backup hours, and the battery comes with built-in fire safety features and a 10-year warranty.
Along with the battery, SolarEdge also launched the Nexis inverter, which comes in different sizes from 3.8 kW to 13 kW and runs with very high efficiency (99%). The inverter supports both AC and DC coupling and provides whole-home or partial-home backup, time-of-use load shifting, energy arbitrage, and self-consumption. It also offers module-level monitoring and production data, helping homeowners keep track of their energy use. Importantly, the design avoids the need for costly main panel upgrades, which can save homeowners between $1,500 and $4,000.
To further cut installation costs, SolarEdge partnered with ConnectDER to launch the Nexis IslandDER, a smart meter socket adapter. This device allows solar systems to connect without triggering expensive panel upgrades, making solar adoption more accessible.
The company said the Nexis system will begin rolling out in late 2025 in North America. According to CEO Ronen Faier, the new system provides flexibility for customers to adapt their solar setup to changing energy markets while giving installers a more efficient and reliable solution.
