Just when you think we have explored all possible uses of solar power, something new emerges. The recent episode of Shark Tank India Season 4 introduced Raheja Solar Food Processing, a company from Indore that is using solar energy to help farmers reduce food wastage.

Varun Raheja and Babita Raheja, the mother-son duo behind this startup, presented their innovative solar dehydrator. This technology helps dry fruits, vegetables, and flowers while maintaining their natural color, taste, and nutrition without using preservatives or added sugar. The dried products can last up to a year, helping farmers prevent wastage and earn more.

During their pitch, Varun shared his inspiration, revealing that he was deeply affected by farmer suicides and wanted to create a business that supports them financially. The company aims to make food processing affordable and accessible while reducing dependence on artificial preservatives.

The entrepreneurs sought ₹50 lakh for 1% equity, valuing their company at ₹50 crore. While some Sharks raised concerns about the business’s scalability, others saw potential. Eventually, they secured a deal of ₹1.25 crore for 3.13% equity and additional advisory equity with Kunal Bahl, Peyush Bansal, and Vineeta Singh.

With this funding, Raheja Solar Food Processing aims to expand its reach, improve its technology, and help more farmers across India. This episode once again proved that solar power has endless possibilities, and when combined with a mission-driven approach, it can bring real change to people’s lives.
